Charity Run/Walk for Provo Children’s Home
The Charity Run/Walk event is part of a weekend-full of activities on the tropical getaway of Providenciales, home to the World’s Best Beach.
Every Year Wrightfully Fit organizes A Charity Run/Walk Event. Participants usually have to get up early morning to run or walk. It first started in November 2009, and ever since, every year people gather to walk or run to help the Provo’s children. All the proceeds from the race go towards the Provo Children’s Home, a purpose build childcare facility being constructed in the Chalk Sound area of the island.
For more information, photos and results/times of the participants of the charity Run/Walk visit http://www.pch.tc/ or call John Wright on 224-9247
For the Charity Run/Walk runners of all levels can enter fun runs of either 5K/3.1 miles or 10K –6.2miles. The event is open to all. Parents doing the miles with strollers, kids doing their first run ever, or anybody walking their dog is welcome to participate. Both races begin and end at Wrightfully Fit near Turtle Cove and wind through the scenic beachfront of Providenciales. A lot of endorphins (the “feel good” chemicals) are released during the Run/Walk.
Traditionally the weekend of the charity starts with the Turks & Caicos Conch Festival that showcases TCI’s great chefs and celebrates the unique aspects of the Turks and Caicos. The Conch Festival features a weekend full of fun activities.
What exactly is The Conch Festival?
The Conch Festival it’s a fun event that provides plenty of excuses to explore and visit different restaurants all over Providenciales. It is a family-friendly cultural event with plenty of games and activities for the kids, including kids games on the beach and a showcase of local talent.
The conch itself holds a special place in the hearts of the residents of the Turks and Caicos – a large mollusk, besides being a chief menu item for island residents, the conch is the territory’s biggest export, and the Turks and Caicos islands also host the only “conch farm” on planet earth.
The popular beachside event attracts tourists and locals alike to celebrate the islands’ most famous delicacy, historical icon, and number one export.
The conch farm is a favorite destination for tourists, and it’s a great way to learn about the incredible intelligence and even personality of these flat-footed relatives of the octopus. This conch farm is actually playing a role to help save the wild conch from extinction and over exploitation.
The Festival ends up with the charity road race being hosted by Wrightfully Fit Fitness Center. This being a good opportunity to burn all the calories accumulated at the fest. The fun run is organized by John Wright, owner of Wrightfully Fit Gym in Providenciales.
